High School Student Exchange Programs Abroad

Did you know that not all school lunches are created equal? Instead of bouncy hot dogs and mystery slush, you could be crunching on fresh beetroot salads or slurping authentic phở. And that’s not all—if you're dreaming of skipping a typical high school year, student exchange programs can open your eyes to new cultures, boost your leadership skills, and provide plenty of material for college applications. Expand your education beyond the classroom with a high school exchange program abroad.

The best high school exchange program for you might not be ideal for another teen, so it depends on your interests. But, generally speaking, a great program would be one that lets you experience it all—from academic learning to cultural immersion!

Foreign exchange programs provide you with the opportunity to live with a host family abroad, integrate into the local way of life, and study at a local high school. You gain an inside perspective into your host country’s culture and traditions.

Yes, you can study abroad at 14 years old! Most programs for this age are typically short term and focus on language learning, outdoor education, and community service. Foreign exchange programs are for students 15 years and older.

Best experience ever!

Honestly, at the beginning of the enrollment I was a little hesitant but I am so glad I followed through. I learned a lot of new things and met amazing people throughout this program. I tried new things, experienced the life of an Italian, and I built bonds. I am so incredibly happy about this and I would one hundred percent do it again. My homestay family was really nice and they had amazing food. My favorite thing I ate with my family was tomato pasta. We all attended a cooking class and my favorite thing we cooked in class was lasagna. Every single food that I ate was so amazing and flavorful and I am definitely gonna try to make some at home for the family. I could go on and on, but 30 days might be a lot to explain. I would highly recommend.
