Study Abroad Programs in Fukuoka, Japan

Japan stirs up images of wild, snow-capped mountains topped with ancient temples, delicate cherry blossoms twirling through the air, and shiny cities that are monochromatic, yet full of color. While studying abroad in Fukuoka, however, the sights will quickly take a backseat to the tastes. Known throughout Japan for their take on ramen noodles (and many other culinary feats), Fukuoka will dazzle you not only with their gastronomy, but with their options and opportunities for international students as well. So grab a cup of sake (or tea, if that’s your thing) and study abroad in Fukuoka, Japan!

Inspiring Weeks at JaLS

July 27, 2025by: Amela Vukotic - SwedenProgram: Short-term Japanese Courses & Cultural Activities in Fukuoka
10

When I read about JaLS’s summer course in Japanese, I felt that it was perfect for me. During my two weeks in Fukuoka, we had intense days with Japanese lessons in the mornings and fun activities in the afternoons. The level of instruction suited me very well. Considering that I am a beginner, it was sometimes challenging, but the teachers did everything they could to explain things to us in a simple and understandable way. A definite bonus was the group activities — we had a lot of fun and got to experience many traditional Japanese customs. The staff were so engaged and kind, and the students were all really friendly. I’m leaving Fukuoka with a truly wonderful experience and a lot of inspiration. I sincerely hope I’ll have the opportunity to do this again in the near future.
