Tanzania is safe for volunteers. As with anywhere in the world though, danger is never nonexistant. Use common sense, practice caution if traveling solo, and immediately leave any situations that make you feel uneasy.

How To Prepare & Deal With An Emergency Abroad

Costs depend on the type of project you're doing and how long you're volunteering in Tanzania for. In general, you can expect to pay between $250 and $3000 per week to volunteer in Tanzania, in addition to airfare and visa costs.

To volunteer in Tanzania, you will enter the country on a tourist visa (the requirements vary depending on your nationality). After arriving in Tanzania, you will apply for a Class C Permit in order to be eligible to volunteer.

Teaching in Hua Hin, Thailand

My IVHQ coordinator was very punctual and informative when answering my email and questions. Thailand was the first asian country I ever travelled to and I really loved the country, I was never home sick. The locals I met and the other volunteers were all kind and fun to be around. The teaching program was not too difficult even though it was mostly autonomous because there are coordinators and resources available to help build lessons. The volunteer to free time ratio was great. My only complaint was that my travel group found the beds too hard, but it was address by the end of the week.

Ubud Cultural Week and Volunteer Teaching

My wife I spent 2 weeks in Ubud. We learned a bit of Buhasa, painted Batik, went to a holy water temple, visited a coffee plantation and a rice terrace, snorkeled, and worked with grade 2-4 students teaching them English. Rewarding and a lot of fun.
